What is your role at EWMD?
My journey with EWMD started early 2021, and it is my honor to take over the role as Director Corporate Members to work closely with my colleagues as well as our valued corporate members. My main responsibilities are primarily to bind our existing corporate members and win new corporate members to jointly develop fairness, openness, diversity, inclusion and equality, so that not only every individual, but also every corporate member shall benefit from being part of EWMD.
What is your background?
Born in Shanghai, China, grew up in the United States, further educated and worked in Switzerland and Germany, I am proud to declare myself as global citizen. The global citizenship is for me, not only the places and countries I studied and worked in, but also my language abilities (I speak Mandarin, Japanese, English, German and Swiss German fluently), as well as my openness, interest and desire for intercultural matters.
I hold B.A. in Business Administration, Higher Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management as well as MBA. Currently I am pursuing my PhD degree in International Management to probe the success factors of German Hidden Champions in China and whether country of origin (e.g., made-in-Germany) plays a vital role in internationalization strategy.
After working in different roles and branches, including my role as Managing Director of HRS Hotel Reservation Services in Asia Pacific, my extensive experience in Germany in the education sector, from vocational training to university to business school and executive education, I decided to pursue new challenge in my life to set up my own consulting business bridge4works consulting. In this new role and new career chapter of mine, I perform multiple roles as partner, mentor, coach and trainer, but fundamentally, I build bridges to bring my clients who are mostly from Family Businesses in DACH Region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) including Startups and their business goals in China and Asia together. My business is a wonderful complement to my PhD work and my business partners appreciate the communication and interaction with me on a level playing field. I am working and living in Friedrichshafen of Lake Constance Region, the so-called 4-country region, that offers me the best initial position to reach out to my business partners.
What was your motivation to join EWMD and why should others join?
Equality, inclusion, diversity, development and support to female talents and females of management positions, are part of my professional and personal passion. I know personally what it means and how important it is, support to women throughout different life stages.
EWMD is exactly the platform I am looking for, international, energetic, authentic, open-minded, embracing with engaged and enthusiastic members. The various initiatives that EWMD creates and involves are goal-oriented, forward-looking yet down-to-earth and programmatic. EWMD lives its motto of Every Woman Makes a Difference and I think this inspires me to join EWMD, to contribute to EWMD and this is why others, corporates, individuals to join to be part of the EWMD team because it is every little step that counts to make big differences.
