EWMD International Board Meeting in Brussels
Three days of meetings, exchange and network
The International Board Meeting took place in Brussels from 29 April to 1 May. The Management Board, National Representatives and International Directors gathered in the Belgian capital for three days of strategy meetings. The main focus was on the internal functioning of the association as well as the external action of the network especially concerning young people, enterprises and public institutions.
There was also a moment of networking with other gender associations and individuals present in Brussels, because EWMD is exactly that: Meet, Share, Engage!
Thanks to the members of the International Board for dedicating your spare time to the functioning of the Network. Together we can reshape society!
The National Representatives of the eight EWMD Chapters presented the Chapters' ongoing projects, post-pandemic challenges and new initiatives that are currently being implemented. Similarly, the International Directors and Management Board reported on their latest activities and achievements. In particular, the main ongoing projects in the network are the support to Ukraine, the focus on youth, the expansion of collaboration with businesses, the onboarding of new members, digital collaboration tools, upcoming international projects and collaborations with others women's networks.
Working in this synchronized way is important to coordinate the activities of an international network of around 900 members in 19 countries around the world.
Thanks to all the members of the International Board for their commitment and engagement. They were intense days that required focus and but also a lot of enthusiasm. And this is the spirit of EWMD!
Meet, Share, Engage!
Obviously, there was no lack of networking with people from outside the International Board. It was a pleasure to exchange with EWMD members from Brussels and some women's associations with which the network collaborates. Because this is what EWMD is all about: women coming together, networking and challenging the status quo of society to create a fairer and more accessible professional world by breaking down gender barriers.
We would like to thank all the participants at the event on 29 April in the Belgian capital. It was a pleasure to meet in person some of the faces with whom we have worked together virtually over the last two years. It is precisely from these constant exchanges that some of EWMD's most ambitious projects were born. In particular, the cooperation with some women's associations gave birth to the Brussels Declaration, an European Manifesto where we ask for more actions from the EU policymakers to improve gender balance for female professionals and female leaders in Europe.
The goal is to enter in communication with the European Institutions and enhance a continuous dialogue and exchange in order to close the gender gap and work together to change the current inequality. All this was possible under the motto "Meet, Share, Engage!".
Together with European Women on Boards
EWMD and EWoB have intensified their partnership over the last year and we are very happy to announce that our network is formally becoming a member association of European Women on Boards. Besides strengthening our cooperation on the international level, this membership also offers some advantages to our EWMD Members.
EWoB is also part of the Brussels Declaration project and has its headquarters in Brussels.
After two years of virtual meetings, the EWMD Management Board finally met EWoB Chair Hedwige Nuyens in person in the Belgian capital. Partnerships and collaborations are two key activities of the Network, because in this way we can join forces, aim higher and achieve more together.
